Inlet valve assembly
A silent fill valve system for a cistern having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve 2 between the inlet and outlet, the outlet being above the fill level of the cistern in use, the system including a flow modifying device upstream of the valve e.g. flow regulator 6 located in inlet supply to cistern/valve (Figs 1, 2, 15 & 16), and/or downstream of the valve e.g. flow equaliser 7, 107, 207, 307, 407, 507 (Figs. 3-14) having means for limiting turbulence by creating a substantially laminar flow in fluid exiting the outlet. The outlet of the valve may include an outlet member defining a flow path having a roof 42, base 43, access end cap 46, inlet 40 and outlet 41. The flow equaliser may be a folded mesh screen, an open cell foam, baffles, tubular baffles, or an apertured plate located in or after this flow path, providing a tortuous path to equalise the flow front promoting laminar flow, to reduce noise from splashing turbulent water entering a cistern. A method of reducing cistern filling noise and the inlet valve assembly apparatus is claimed.
