Composite spandrel panel
A composite spandrel panel has a rear tray 1 having a recessed volume 2 and surrounding lip portions 5. Hard edging members 7 are disposed along the lip portions, and a non-combustible insulating mineral or metal wool 9 fills the recessed volume. A metal mesh layer 10 is disposed over the hard edging members and the insulating mineral or metal wool in the recessed volume. A toughened glass layer 11 is disposed over the metal mesh layer. Components of the composite spandrel panel are bonded together with an adhesive that is free of flammable solvents, isocyanates and polyvinyl chloride. The mesh may be aluminium mesh. The hard edging may comprise calcium silicate. In a second aspect, a composite spandrel panel includes a metal layer in place of the glass and mesh layers of the first aspect.
