A method of operating a work vehicle 10 comprising a swing apparatus 11 comprising an arm arrangement 14. A predetermined maximum allowable swing speed is stored and/or received. An input receives an operator override of a selected maximum swing speed that is higher than the predetermined maximum allowable swing speed. A determination as to how to limit speed is made based on whether an operator override input is received, and the maximum operational swing speed is limited according to the determination. The predetermined maximum allowable swing speed may be based on a maximum angular stopping displacement for a vehicle configuration with the greatest inertia, with the override available for operations other than that with the greatest inertia. The override may be password protected and a warning may be presented when inputting the override.
