Improvements in the manufacture of asphalt
A modification of the conventional asphalt manufacturing process in which heat present in the dried aggregate as it leaves the drying stage of the process is captured for use in its own right. The captured heat may be conducted elsewhere to form a separate drying operation other than as part of that continuing asphalt manufacturing process, and further may be used in a separate drying operation elsewhere on the same manufacturing site. Alternatively, or additionally, the recovered heat may re-enter the manufacturing process from which it was initially extracted. Also disclosed is an asphalt manufacturing apparatus which can recover waste heat from the drying stage. Also disclosed is apparatus suitable to modify a pre-existing asphalt manufacturing process.
