PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an electric rear gate for a vehicle with reduced power consumption.SOLUTION: A control device 40 of a rear gate 3 comprises drive control units 42, 44 for controlling drive units 10, 11, 17 of the rear gate 3, and a rear gate control unit 46 for controlling the opening and closing of the rear gate 3 by the drive control units 42, 44 based on the opening degree θ of the rear gate 3. The rear gate control unit 46 controls the drive control units 42, 44 so as to increase the opening degree θ of the rear gate 3 until the opening degree θ of the rear gate 3 defined by the extension of a damper 4 controlled through the control of the drive control units 42, 44 reaches the reference opening degree Ref. When the opening degree θ of the rear gate 3 reaches the reference opening degree Ref, the rear gate control unit 46 controls the drive control units 42, 44 so as to stop the driving of the drive units 10, 11, 17, then the opening degree θ of the rear gate 3 is directed toward the fully open opening degree Max according to the extension force of the damper 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
