To provide a panel lifting system and a roof construction method for quickly and safely constructing a roof provided with eaves soffit panels for a large space building.SOLUTION: A panel lifting system for installing an eaves soffit panel on an underside of a roof skeleton comprises a lifting device capable of conveying and lifting an eaves soffit panel, and a positioning device for assisting positioning when installing the lifting device below an installation position of the eaves soffit panel in a roof skeleton; the positioning device is installed in one of the eaves soffit panel and the roof skeleton; a point-like light emitting device that emits point-like light, and a light receiving target which is disposed on the other of the eaves soffit panel and the roof skeleton and serves as an aiming part of the point-like light emitted from the point-like light emitting device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
