To provide a ground improvement mat foundation method suitable for ground freezing countermeasures in cold regions that can block water outside the ground improvement section from entering inside through the ground improvement section.SOLUTION: The present invention has the steps of excavating a trench groove 7 for constructing a ground improvement section having a predetermined width and a depth below freezing from the ground surface in the ground below a bottom plate portion 3, laying a required number of crushed stones on the bottom of the trench groove 7 to form a crushed stone portion 6 of a predetermined thickness, and forming a ground improvement portion 4 for mat foundation in which ground improvement is applied to the trench groove 7 above the crushed stone portion 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
