To provide a grit chamber capable of restraining sand from curling up, while sufficiently moving the sand.SOLUTION: In a grit chamber 1, sand included in received water settles in a groove extended toward a sand collecting pit 4 that is provided in a lower part 9 of the chamber. The grit chamber comprises an upward-opened groove formation body 91 for forming the groove, a space formation member 93 which forms a closed space S9, which is provided with a suction port 93a communicating with the space S9 and which is extended along the groove, and a support member 94 for supporting the space formation member 93.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
