METHOD FOR INSPECTING A COLUMNAR HONEYCOMB MOLDING BEFORE CALCINATION OR AFTER CALCINATION
To provide an inspection method of a columnar honeycomb molding before calcination and after calcination which can be performed in a nondestructive manner, and can be substituted to a rigidity inspection.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for inspecting a columnar honeycomb molding before calcination and after calcination having a columnar honeycomb structure part having an external peripheral side wall, and a bulkhead arranged at an internal peripheral side of the external peripheral side wall, and partitioning a plurality of cells which form a flow passage from a first bottom face up to a second bottom face. The method includes; a process for photographing at least either of images of the first bottom face or the second bottom face of the columnar honeycomb molding before calcination and after calcination by a camera; a process for measuring areas of openings of the plurality of cells in the image; and a process for specifying abnormal cells having openings having areas which allow a deviation from a preset allowable range from the plurality of cells, and measuring the number of the abnormal cells.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
