To provide an apparatus for detecting a road defect that improves the accuracy of detecting white cracks occurring on a road.SOLUTION: A road defect detecting apparatus 100 has: a detecting section 113 that detects a pixel region including a defect of a road from an image obtained by photographing the road; and a totalizing section 116 that calculates a defect ratio of the road for each section using an area of the detected pixel region. The detecting section 113 detects the pixel region for each type of a defect including white cracks, and the totalizing section 116 calculates the defect ratio using the total of areas of the sum aggregate of the pixel region detected by the detecting section 113 for each type.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
