To suppress generating of a connecting passage extending between indoor and outdoor spaces, in a stepped window including at its upper stage a sash that is opened and closed, between a transom and an upper stage sash in the event of fire.SOLUTION: A sash is supported, above a transom 15, in an openable/closable manner via an opening/closing mechanism 82, a thermally expansible material f151 is disposed on the indoor side of the opening/closing mechanism on the upper surface of the transom, concurrently a thermally expansible material f221 is disposed on the indoor side of the opening/closing mechanism on the lower surface of a lower frame 22 of the sash, and a thermally expansible material f222 is disposed on the outdoor side of the opening/closing mechanism on at least one of the upper surface of the transom and the lower surface of the lower frame 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
