To provide a detection device which is highly durable and capable of stably detecting the open/closed state of a luggage compartment door and minimizing reduction in design flexibility of an area around a luggage compartment, and to provide a loading rate estimation system.SOLUTION: A detection device is provided, comprising: a computation unit configured to acquire a color image of the interior of a luggage compartment with a door that can be opened or closed at will, and compute a determination value based on color information based on a plurality of pixels of the color image; and a determination unit configured to determine that the door is open when the determination value is greater than a predetermined threshold, and determine that the door is closed when the determination value is equal to or less than the threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
