To provide a mechanical parking system capable of performing human detection in a front yard while suppressing cost increases.SOLUTION: A mechanical parking system includes: a get-on/get-off room for performing at least any one of the incoming and outgoing of a vehicle; an entrance/exit door placed at an entrance/exit of the get-on/get-off room; and a control unit 40 that controls opening/closing the entrance/exit door. The control unit 40 includes a monitoring area setting unit 80 that sets up a monitoring area outside the get-on/get-off room and near the entrance/exit door when the entrance/exit door is open. The mechanical parking system also includes a range sensor 30 that is placed in the get-on/get-off room for detecting objects in the monitoring area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
