To provide a method capable of suppressing diffusion of contaminated water over a long period.SOLUTION: A contaminated water diffusion suppression method includes the steps of: supplying carbon dioxide to a ground; measuring the pH of the ground, in a state of supplying the carbon dioxide; stopping supplying the carbon dioxide when the value of the measured pH is below a threshold, and continuing the supply of the carbon dioxide when the value of the measured pH exceeds the threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
