To provide a dam having an upstream wall surface formed of wall surface material, on the upstream wall of which a capturing body for capturing objects flowed from an upstream side is arranged.SOLUTION: An impermeable type dam 1 comprising: an upstream wall surface 20 arranged so as to face an upstream side of a river, on which a plurality of segments 21 are connected; a downstream wall surface 30 arranged to face a downstream side of the river, on which a plurality of segments 31 are connected; filler 40 arranged between the upstream wall surface 20 and the downstream wall surface 30; a capturing structure 50 having at least one column member 51 for capturing objects flowed down from the upstream; and a waterway part 15. A construction method thereof comprises the steps of: forming the upstream wall 20 and the downstream wall 30 of a specific height using the segments 21, 31; installing the filler 40 between the segments 21, 31; and installing the capturing structure 50 on a side of the upstream wall surface 20, wherein an end of the column member 51 is partially buried in the filler 40 in the step of installing the capturing structure 50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
