To provide a rotation angle detection device for a work machine and the like that are hard to be impacted by sediment and the like, and can more accurately detect a rotation angle of a movement unit relative to a main body unit.SOLUTION: A rotation angle detection device 30 comprises: a distance measurement sensor 32 that is rotatable around a reference axis together with an upper rotary body, and measures a distance to a measurement object; a reflector 31 that is rotatable around the reference axis together with a lower rotary body, provided with a space apart from the distance measurement sensor 32, and has a lateral face part 131 serving as the measurement object in which a distance between the distance measurement sensor 32 and the reflector continuously or discontinuously varies during one rotation around the reference axis; a storage unit 34 that stores data associating a distance from the distance measurement sensor 32 to the lateral face part 131 during one rotation of the reflector 31 around the reference axis with a rotation angle of the lower rotary body around the reference axis relative to the upper rotary body; and a control unit 35 that acquires a rotation angle of the lower rotary body on the basis of the distance measured by the distance measurement 32, and the data stored in the storage unit 34.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
