The foundation (2) has a platform (4) carrying a support (13) for a wind turbine tower in its central region. A set of leg guides is present in a peripheral region of the foundation. Each of a set of legs (5) is moved between a raised position for transport and lowered positions for resting on a seabed (6), where each leg is freely sliding in the respective guide. The leg is locked in place in the guide by a ring made of a concrete material cast in an annular space located between the leg and the guide. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing an offshore wind turbine.

The foundation (2) has a platform (4) carrying a support (13) for a wind turbine tower in its central region. A set of leg guides is present in a peripheral region of the foundation.
