The invention relates to a method for coding key/lock assemblies for a device for closing motor vehicle doors and to a key obtained by this method. Each key comprises a key shank (5) designed to cooperate with tumblers (4a, 4b) of a lock (1) and, at least on one of its lateral faces (6a, 6b), at least one camway (7, 8) having a succession of peaks (14) and troughs (17) to form coding, and at least one free zone (18), not used for the coding, positioned between two successive coding peaks (14) or troughs (17). The method comprises the steps of generating codes for the key/lock assemblies, for checking whether the key of a key/lock assembly can be removed from the lock (1) associated therewith when it is in the unlocked position, and for checking whether the key unlocks only the lock (1) associated therewith. According to the invention, the method comprises a step of modifying at least one free zone (18) of the camway (7, 8) of the key so as to generate an intermediate code if the key of a key/lock assembly can be removed from the lock (1) associated therewith when it is in the unlocked position and/or if the key can unlock a lock (1) that is not associated therewith, the intermediate code being generated by adding at least one differentiating peak (35) or differentiating trough in the free zone (18) of the camway (7, 8) of the key.

L'invention concerne un procédé de codage d'ensembles clef / verrou pour dispositif de fermeture d'ouvrants de véhicule automobile et une clef obtenue par ce procédé. Chaque clef comprend une tige de clef(5) agencée pour coopérer avec des paillettes (4a, 4b) d'un verrou (1) et au moins sur l'une de ses faces latérales (6a, 6b), au moins un chemin de came (7, 8) comportant une succession de crêtes (14) et de creux (17) pour former un codage et au moins une zone libre(18), non utilisée pour le codage, positionnée entre deux crêtes (14)ou creux (17) de codage successifs. Le procédé comprend les étapes de génération de codes pour les ensembles clef / verrous,de vérification si la clef d'un ensemble clef / verrou ne peut être retirée du verrou (1) qui lui est associé lorsqu'elle est en position de déverrouillage,et de vérification si la clef déverrouille seulement le verrou (1) qui lui est associé. Selon l'invention, le procédé comprend une étape de modification d'au moins une zone libre (18) du chemin de came (7, 8) de la clef de façon à générer un code intermédiaire, si la clef d'un ensemble clef / verrou peut être retirée du verrou (1) qui lui est associé lorsqu'elle est en position de déverrouillage et/ou si la clef peut déverrouiller un verrou (1) qui ne lui est pas associé, le code intermédiaire étant généré en ajoutant au moins une crête de différenciation (35) ou un creux de différenciation dans la zone libre (18) du chemin de came (7, 8)de la clef.
