A hinge (10) for mounting a door (A) on a piece of furniture or the like comprises a hinge arm (11), a box (14) connected to the hinge arm (11) by an articulation system (15) comprising a plurality of movable connecting levers (16, 18, 20, 23) and seven articulation axes (17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26), spring means (27) acting in closing direction of the hinge, and a damping device (29) having an actuation member (30) linearly movable according to a longitudinal axis (l); the damping device (29) is at least partially enclosed between the side walls (11'') of the hinge arm (11), and the actuation member (30) of the damping device (29) extends at a front end of the hinge arm (11) facing the hinge box (14) for contacting a thrust element of one of the connecting levers (16, 18, 20, 23) of the articulation system (15) or integral with one of the same connecting levers (16, 18, 20, 23) or with the hinge box (14) at least in a range near the closing position of the hinge. L'invention concerne une charnière (10) destinée au montage d'une porte (A) sur un meuble ou analogue comprenant un bras de charnière (11), une boîte (14) reliée au bras de charnière (11) par un système d'articulation (15) comprenant une pluralité de leviers de liaison mobiles (16, 18, 20, 23) et sept axes d'articulation (17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26), des moyens de ressort (27) agissant dans la direction de fermeture de la charnière, et un dispositif d'amortissement (29) ayant un élément d'actionnement (30) pouvant se déplacer linéairement selon un axe longitudinal (l) ; le dispositif d'amortissement (29) est au moins partiellement enfermé entre les parois latérales (11'') du bras de charnière (11), et l'élément d'actionnement (30) du dispositif d'amortissement (29) s'étend au niveau d'une extrémité avant du bras de charnière (11) faisant face à la boîte de charnière (14) pour la mise en contact d'un élément de poussée d'un des leviers de liaison (16, 18 20, 23) du système d'articulation (15) ou d'un seul tenant avec l'un des mêmes leviers de liaison (16, 18 20, 23) ou avec la boîte d'articulation (14) au moins dans une plage proche de la position de fermeture de la charnière.
