COMPOSITION AND MODIFIED AGGREGATE FOR ASPHALT CONCRETE

There is described a composition for use with aggregate which improves the wetting-out capabilities of bitumen, and therefore the resilience and ageing characteristics of asphalt concrete formed through admixture of the aggregate with the composition prior to addition of a bitumen binder. The composition comprises an inorganic component, polyisobutylene and an organic component comprising an elastomer such as an ethylene propylene elastomer. The inorganic component is formed principally from soda lime glass, in combination with a geopolymer. The aggregate admixture, coated aggregate and modified asphalt concrete formed therewith are also described.

L'invention concerne une composition destinée à être utilisée avec un agrégat qui améliore les capacités de mouillage du bitume et, par conséquent, les caractéristiques de résilience et de vieillissement du béton asphaltique formé par mélange de l'agrégat avec la composition avant l'ajout d'un liant bitumineux. La composition comprend un constituant inorganique, du polyisobutylène et un constituant organique comprenant un élastomère tel qu'un élastomère d'éthylène-propylène. Le constituant inorganique est formé principalement à partir de verre sodo-calcique, en combinaison avec un géopolymère. L'invention concerne également le mélange d'agrégat, l'agrégat enrobé et le béton asphaltique modifié formé à l'aide de ce dernier.
