Disclosed are a hinge assembly with a cavity, and a refrigeration apparatus having the hinge assembly. The hinge assembly comprises a first hinge arranged on a cabinet, a second hinge arranged on a door, and a switching assembly connected to the first hinge and the second hinge, wherein the switching assembly comprises a first sliding sheet set and a second sliding sheet set, which overlap in a first direction and movably connected to each other; the switching assembly further comprises a frame portion, which encloses a cavity; the frame portion is connected to the first sliding sheet set; the second sliding sheet set is movably arranged in the cavity; and the first direction is a direction in which the first hinge, the switching assembly and the second hinge overlap. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the second sliding sheet set is located in the cavity formed by the frame portion connected to the first sliding sheet set, and the second sliding sheet set moves, in the cavity, relative to the first sliding sheet set, and the overall compactness of the switching assembly can thus be greatly improved.
