Surface Settlement and Discrete Element Analysis of Shields Through Water-Rich Sand and Cobble Strata
At present, the shield method is a commonly used construction method in underground engineering construction. During the shield construction of two-way parallel tunnels, there will be mutual influence between the tunnels. In this paper, taking Xi'an Metro Line 6 as an example, combined with relevant stratigraphic data, the discrete element software (MatDEM) is used to simulate the sand and gravel stratum under the shield tunnel, and the influence of uneven surface loads on the surface settlement of the sand and gravel stratum tunnel is studied. Studies have shown that single sand and pebble formations have higher stress values but less surface settlement, while mixed clay-sand and pebble formations have significantly higher surface settlement, with vertical settlement increasing and then decreasing with depth of burial.
