Roofing Industry Perspective and Research Capability
This report provides a qualitative and numeric summary of the US roofing industry with emphasis on its infrastructure and research profile. Descriptive models of the following activities are presented: roof design, pre-construction activities, roof construction and acceptance, roof maintenance, resolution of roof complaints, and dissemination of roofing information. Principal groups that deal with roof industry issues are identified together with categories of generic roof research. A brief discussion of the results of a survey of industry-sponsored roofing research is presented. A review of research equipment and approximate research budgets is given. Needed roofing research is identified from discussions with industry and public sector representatives and from reviews of selected reports. References are included together with a listing in the Appendix of roofing manufacturers and products. (ERA citation 10:022798)
