Development of Improved Procedures for Managing Pavement Markings During FDOT Highway Construction Projects
The removal of temporary pavement markings is a common necessity during highway construction opertions. Current methods of marking removal have often been unsatisfactory leaving pavement scarring that can be mistaken for a line. The objective of this study was to develop a methodology for removing temporary pavement markings that would not adversely affect the pavement and would leave no trace of the marking. Several experimental methods were developed and tested. A modified seal coat procedure was selected as the best method. This document reports on the research activity and test results.
