Test Methods for Mortar and Masonry Units. Interlaboratory Comparison Tests. Nordtest Project No. 1323-97
This report presents the results of a Nordtest project concerning evaluation of coming European test methods, EN-methods, of mortar for masonry units. Some national methods are included to compare these results with the results from the proposed EN-methods. The main purposes of this project were to estimate the precision of the methods and to draw up routines and guidelines for proficiency test programs on materials for masonry. The precision was evaluated in accordance with ISO 5725. Different mortars were tested. A cement mortar, called mortar A, with a cement/sand ratio by weight of 100/250 and two lime-cement mortars, called mortar B and mortar C, with lime/cement/sand ratios by weight of 35/65/500 ad 50/50/650 respectively. Three different types of masonry units were tested. Massive bricks, vertically perforated bricks and calcium silicate bricks.
