Proposed Cape Krusenstern National Monument, Alaska
The project proposes that approximately 350,000 acres of lands and waters in northwestern Alaska be legislatively established by Congress as the Cape Krusenstern National Monument in order to protect nationally significant cultural (archelogic and historic) resources and their natural environment; that the Secretary of the Interior withdraw the monument from all forms of appropriation or entry under the public land laws including the mining and mineral leasing laws; and that the monument be studied for possible inclusion into the National Wilderness Preservation System. Environmental Impacts are discussed.
