Smoke Filling Experiments in a 6x6x6 Meter Enclosure
An experimental study of the smoke filling process by a fire in a single enclosure is described. The fires were conducted in a room of floor area 5.62 x 5.62 meter and of height 6.15 meter. The fuel was kerosene, burnt in square steel pans. Fifteen experiments were performed with the fuel size and fuel position varied. The paper presents the measured data of the mass burning rate, temperature, smoke density and the smoke layer height for the various tests. A major objective of the experimental work was to generate data for use in the verification of smoke filling simulation models.
