The project involves constructing a bridge and its approaches over the Red Lake River between Trunk Highway No. 2 and Trunk Highway No. 220, about 1.5 miles southeast of East Grand Forks, Minnesota. The bridge is to replace the bridge at Mallory which was damaged in the flood of 1969 and subsequently collapsed and was dismantled. The land which will be acquired for the road construction is all cultivated farm land under plow with no natural vegetation, plants, shrubs or trees except in the portion which will be under the bridge. As the bridge will span this area in its entirity, it will be unavoidable to cut some mature trees which would be under the bridge site. (Author)
