Highway Project F-011-1, CS 1442R, SR 104, Hood Canal Point, Washington

The project is located approximately one mile west of Port Gamble, Kitsap County, at the east end of the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. The triangular site is bordered on the north by State Route 104, on the east by State Route 3, and on the west by a county road which serves the private homes abutting the shores of Hood Canal. The proposal includes the construction of an access road connecting to State Route 3, parking areas, a small rest room building and a viewpoint platform. Environmental issues related to the project included concern by the abutting property owners about the possibility of the proposed drainfield polluting private wells and the water source being depleted by heavy use of the proposed facility. Some concern was indicated that people would trespass onto private land. (Author)
