The Fourth Action Year of the District of Columbia Neighborhood Development Program, H Street Urban Renewal Area
The proposed redevelopment actions would provide for the construction of approximately 430 new residential units on sites in the H Street urban renewal area, which are currently estimated to contain 95 occupied residential units and 17 businesses. The rehabilitation areas involve all or part of eight Squares. The rehabilitation proposals would result in the upgrading of approximately 470 buildings out of a total of 2,959 buildings in the H Street Area. The potential environmental impacts within the context of three broad categories: the physical, social, and aesthetic/historic environments as well as the adverse environmental effects are discussed.
