Rehabilitation Guidelines 1984. 11: Guideline for Residential Building Systems Inspection
This guideline is designed to help evaluate the rehabilitation potential of existing one-family to four-family small residential buildings. The book may be used by anyone with a basic knowledge of building construction, particularly small contractors, builders, and others involved in the rehabilitation process. The first section discusses the architectural inspection, which covers the site, the building exterior, and the building interior. This phase of the inspection will be similar for every building. The second part, the systems inspection, covers the structural system; electrical system; plumbing system; and the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system. All common system types are covered, as each building inspection will vary depending on the systems found. Appendixes contain reproducible building inspection forms, a list of recommended inspectiontools, and sources of additional information, including references. Photographs, diagrams, and figures are presented. (Author abstract modified).
