The report, one of a series prepared as a part of the Southern Tier East Regional Planning Program, includes a number of studies completed during the early stages of the planning process. While these studies, including existing land use patterns, natural resources, public water and sewer service, and transportation facilities contributed immeasureable to the development of the general plan, other reports in the series contain more specific proposals, especially in the areas of recreation and housing. The future land use plan included in this volume represents, essentially, the Planning Board's overall policy regarding future development in the region and is a result of the sifting and weighing of various alternatives. In addition to the general plan, a plan for improvement of the transportation system throughout the region is also included. (Author)
