Construction Lost-Time Injuries: The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Data Base 1985-1989
The report presents an analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) accident investigation reports for 614 lost-time contractor construction injuries and fatalities occurring at or on BOR projects within the continental U.S. for the period 1985 through 1989. The analysis considered variations in the number of injuries over the 5-year period and the influence of factors such as construction trade, and worker age on the injury statistics. Data from this study are compared with results of a recently completed OSHA analysis of construction lost-time injury and fatality data (1985-1989), an OSHA study of accidents occurring on United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction sites (1984-1988), and with an OSHA study of construction Workers' Compensation injuries and illnesses recorded in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Supplementary Data System (SDS) from 1985-1988.
