Chemical Components of Asphalt. Phase II. Establishing Minimum Amounts of Each Component Required to Form an Asphalt
This report covers the results obtained in Phase II of a study to determine the relation of asphalt behavior and the chemical composition of asphalt as determined by the acid precipitation method (modified Rostler-Sternberg Method). This phase was directed toward the determination of the minimum amounts and proportional distribution of the analytical components required to form a stable, homogeneous asphalt (essentially free of syneresis). Four 60/70 grade asphalts from different sources were used in the study. (BPR abstract)
