Raccoon Creek State Park Dam consists of an earth embankment approximately 960 feet long with a maximum height of 45 feet from the downstream toe and a crest width of 14 feet. The flood discharge facilities for the dam consist of a combined primary and emergency spillway located on the right abutment (looking downstream). The spillway structures of the dam consist of a concrete ogee overflow section and a trapezoidal concrete-lined spillway discharge channel which terminates in a concrete-lined stilling basin at the toe level of the dam near the right abutment. Based on the evaluation of the existing conditions, the condition of Raccoon Creek State Park Dam is considered to be good. No conditions were noted at this time that would significantly affect the structural performance of the dam. The flood discharge capacity of Raccoon Creek State Park Dam was evaluated according to the recommended procedure and was found to pass 90 percent of the probable maximum flood (PMF) without overtopping the embankment. Therefore, according to the recommended criteria, the flood discharge capacity of the dam was classified to be inadequate.
