Conclusions The large series of investigation carried out and the intensive search for rational design solutions, enabled a number of advanced solutions to be developed relating to the arrangement and design of the underground structures of the Nurek hydroelectric station, resulting in a substantial economy of resources and a reduction in construction time.It is necessary to continue investigations and design developments for the further improvement of hydraulic structures, particularly in the area of utilization of the bearing characteristics of a rock mass.
