Engineering geological aspects of different types of karst corrosion and fracture generation in karst masses
Abstract Different kinds of karst corrosion are distinguished: one depends on the specific surface and shape of corroded rock fragments and the other on the their stress-strain state. Heights and depths of the self-generated fracture areas above and beneath rock voids (and karst caves) are calculated. A general coincidence of theoretical calculations and observations in rock masses is ascertained. Zones of different fracture density are distinguished. Some remarks are made on engineering-geological studies in karst masses.
