CFDST columns were first introduced by Shakir-Khalil in 1990s and many researchers studied CFDST columns since then. The CFDST columns introduced by Shakir-Khalil at that time have very large void ratio with only 12 mm spacing between the inner and outer tube. The spacing between these two tubes was filled with 2 types of filler materials, grout and micro-concrete.
