Because of the low mechanical performance of the joints and the low transverse strength of bamboo culms, the traditional bamboo structure can only be used on small buildings. With an innovative topological relationship between bamboo culms, we have invented a new type of structural system named “Multi-culm Bamboo Spatial Lattice Structures”. The bamboo culms are assembled end-to-end to form a triangular unit, and then adjacent bamboo culms are connected in a triangular parallel way in construction. The highly efficient method to construct the bamboo pavilion from the structural center to the edge is applied with the help of a tripod and a hand chain hoist. Technologies of this new type of structural system can be applied to any country or region, because of the simple processing of the components, the low cost and convenient purchase of the connectors, and the relatively good performance of the structure.
