Seismic and Energetic Study of Infill-Wall Prototype: Energetic Aspects
The aim of the research is to test and analyze, in an infill wall prototype, the energetic aspects of an innovative and bio ecological plaster. Recent seismic events have highlighted the high seismic vulnerability of the non-structural elements as masonry infill walls; in Italy, the infill walls of existing buildings, and mostly the historic ones, represent a significant part of the building stocks, consisting for the most part of buildings built more than 70 years ago, that are aged, in a state of deterioration and in need of interventions. Recovering, renovating and redeveloping existing and historic buildings, could be a formidable instrument for improving the energy and seismic quality of the building stocks. In Reggio Calabria, Calabria region, a research activity was undertaken to define an innovative plaster for integrated retrofit (seismic and energy). This goal has been pursued, in according with the Italian codes, comparing the results of the analyses carried out on a traditional plaster with those of an innovative anti-tipping device. The results highlight the effectiveness of these methods of bio ecological retrofitting compatible and sustainable for the seismic and energy improvement of masonry infill walls. The same research, in another article, tests and analyzes, in the infill wall prototype, the seismic aspects of this innovative and bio ecological plaster. Seismic Retrofit, Energy Efficiency, Reinforced Concrete Buildings, Infill Walls, Seismic behavior masonry infill walls.
