Abstract This chapter addresses the issue of why support for research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) in CSP is needed (Sect. 5.1), what are the instruments out there to promote it (Sect. 5.2), what level of innovative activity in CSP has been achieved (Sect. 5.3), and what types of innovation can be expected to be performed in the future (Sect. 5.4).
