Erreurs dans les modélisations par éléments finis: principaux types et méthodes de verifications associées
This paper describes the main types of error which is possible to make in a finite element computation (in the fields of modelling, mesh and data). Some of these errors now tend to disappear with the internal controls in the preprocessor. Nevertheless, there are some errors which are difficult to detect during the data process. Moreover, the complex tridimensional modelling can be a new source of errors. The knowledge of typical potential errors and systematic controls of data and results should avoid mistakes in modelling. Examples of verifications in geotechnical engineering are provided in relation with typical errors. If users of finite element analysis software apply such a systematic strategy of control, with the support of intelligent pre- and post-processor, it would be a good way towards the quality of results infinite element modelling.
