Evaluating concrete quality under freeze–thaw damage using the drilling powder method
Evaluating the safety of in situ concrete structures under freeze–thaw (F–T) damage presents significant challenges. Existing methods require large coring samples, which are unsuitable for ongoing monitoring. This study investigates a minimally invasive drilling powder technique to assess the F–T resistance of concrete with varying properties. We evaluated the durability factor and powder porosity before and after F–T exposure. The results indicate that the drilling powder method effectively assesses the safety of concrete under F–T damage using threshold powder porosity. In conclusion, this technique offers a promising approach for the F–T damage assessment with minimal structural impact.
