Design of a resonant electromagnetic pile driver
Designs of two resonating pile drivers are described. The first one is based on the linear induction motor principle and the other is related to the design of a vibrational transducer. Propulsion forces and rotor losses of both designs are determined from numerical field solutions. Although the first design has superior mechanical properties, the second design is considered to be better from an electrical point of view, generating a higher propulsion force per kilowatt loss of the rotor winding.
