Automated and rheologically controlled make-up of slurry and paste for backfill and building material application
The newest development in slurry viscometer technology is a bypass measuring system, based on the capillary measuring principle. Its mechanical layout offers to process abrasive and sticky slurries and pastes so reliable online use is possible. The software of the system is in a position to determine rheologic slurry properties like yield point, consistency and structure viscosity. Even pressure drops in the conveying pipe can be pre-calculated. This system has been used for the automation of a building material mixing plant which supplies a German hard coal mine by pipeline with cement based concrete. The dosing equipment for water and dry solids in the plant is adjusted by the viscometer's measurements. Beside the benefits of automation this measure offers higher operation reliability against pipe-plugging and an optimised building material quality by minimised water content.
