Modeling Floors, Ceilings, and Roofs
This chapter describes how to model various floor finishes, create ceilings, understand roof modeling methods, and work with advanced shape editing for floors and roofs. Floors are likely to be one of the first sketch‐based elements users will encounter in Autodesk Revit software. Slab Edge is a tool that allows creating thickened portions of slabs typically located at the boundaries of floors. Users can create a ceiling in one of two ways: automatically or by sketching a boundary. In the Sketch Ceiling mode, users can use the Pick Walls method to create intelligent relationships with the bounding walls of the ceiling. Roofs can be constructed in four different ways: by footprint; by extrusion; modeled in place; and by face. The roof‐by‐footprint method is used to create any standard roof that more or less follows the shape of the footprint of the building and is a simple combination of roof pitches.
