Analysis of Land Use/Cover and Landscape Pattern Changes in a Dry-Hot Valley (DHV) Area: A Case Study of Derong County
In this paper, we evaluated the changes of land use/cover and landscape pattern in Derong County during the period 1993-2009. Results show that: 1) there was a significant reduction in arable land and forestland, however, rangeland and construction land increased greatly; 2) the degrees of separation and fragmentation for water bodies and construction land were relatively high, by contrast, the degrees for farmland, forestland, and rangeland increased first and then decreased, influenced by policies and human activities; 3) the landscape structure became increasingly fragmented and then aggregated, while the landscape heterogeneity increased first and then decreased.
