Estimating Evaporation from Insolation
A previously developed equation correlation evaporation and insolation quantities with air temperature for a local region has been recomputed from a wider geographic distribution of data. It was found that this more general equation estimated evaporation with correlation coefficients as high as those found when estimating evaporation with individual station equations. It is found that this equation is suitable for estimating monthly totals of pan or shallow basin evaporation and yearly totals of lake evaporation (with the use of a 0.92 coefficient).
