Effect of Viscosity on Vortex-Orifice Flow
The formation of a vortex is carefully avoided by most design engineers, particularly in cases involving free-surface orifice flow. In certain applications, however, the use of a vortex is found to be advantageous, since this type of flow has characteristics not found elsewhere.
