The reconstruction of Columbus Circle, at the southwest corner of New York City’s Central Park, has effectuated for this premier public space the grandeur that was envisioned by its designers, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Columbus Circle is now a safe and attractive pedestrian destination as well as a major transportation hub with improved traffic and pedestrian circulation.
